Oceanography

SUNY Stony Brook

September 2018 - June 2019

I voluntarily took this course in addition to my regular classes. I read a college level text book and came in for several lectures a week. I learned many things about the ocean, atmosphere, and the Earth as a whole. This rigorous course has allowed me to build up my work ethic, knowledge, stress resistance, study habits, and has allowed me to mature mentally. After much hard work, I was able a achieve a 98% on the final and gain 3 credits.

Independent Research

SUNY Albany

September 2018 - June 2019

I took on a three year research project testing for a symbiotic relationship between the plant, Vallisneria Americana and the strain of bacteria, Pseudomonas migulae 8R6. My project aims to compare plant growth and uptake of phosphate between inoculated and control plants. From my work, I have learned a myriad of skills and how to use a plethora of instruments. I have learned how to culture bacteria, how to grow plants, how to eliminate bias from an experimental set up, how to manage myself and large amounts of information, and how to network. I have also developed a strong scientific mindset. This will not be the last research that I conduct and I am exited to carry on in my journey to push the boundary of knowledge.
